losing this religion that brides within me

outside the doors of the infamous Preservation Hall on St. Peter’s Street in the Quarter. The heart of New Orleans jazz was conceived here in the 1960s as a venue for neglected, aging black musicians who had come of age during the emergence of early jazz in the 1920’s.

Established in 1880, Lafayette Cemetery No. 2 in the Garden District of New Orleans began as the final resting place to many labor societies building tombs that could house hundreds.
